    POSITION SUMMARY


    The afternoon shift Maintenance Millwright is responsible for the set up and maintenance of a preventative maintenance plan for each piece of equipment and to use the plan to ensure all equipment is at maximum possible efficiency.   
    The successful candidate must be able to work the afternoon shift; Monday to Thursday; 3 pm to 1:30 am; Fridays (as needed) 3 pm to 8 pm.


    SPECIFIC DUTIES
    Responsible for conducting preventative / predictive maintenance inspections as per schedule identified by Maintenance Manager, carryout routine repairs as needed and report all findings.
    Advise Maintenance Manager when inventory of consumables are at a minimum.
    Enter data on Maintenance Activity Log located at production equipment at time of repair.
    Operate a lift truck, overhead cranes and scissor lift.
    Check fluid levels on equipment and add fluid as required.
    Sign off on equipment service contracts (crane, lift truck).
    Must work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&SA) while wearing proper PPE.
    Develop personal skills and capability through on-going training, as provided by the company or elsewhere subject to Company approval.
    Attend meeting as required.
    Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.

    MetriCan is a family owned and operated tier 2 metal stamping facility, servicing the automotive industry since 1976. Our Burlington Plant (located near Appleby Line & Mainway) is currently hiring Machine Operators to join our Weld Production Team.

    POSITION SUMMARY
    We are seeking hard working, dedicated, punctual individuals who are looking for a full time permanent opportunity with potential for growth. The Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the metal stamping press. Operators also perform and record periodic production quality checks. Full safety, quality and production training will be provided. 

    We are currently seeking to fill two operator positions (NO SHIFT ROTATION): 

    1. Day Shift: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Mon to Friday
    2. Afternoon Shift 3:00 pm to 1:30 am Mon to Thurs

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • The Press Operator ensures that the die is set-up in a manner that allows the part to be ejected from the die properly and will be working on 600 ton to 1000 ton machine (both manual & progressive machinery).
    • Ensures raw material being used is the correct material and gathers all receiving inspection tags and attaches these to the production control log card.
    • Ensures that the scrap from the die is conveyed into the scrap containers
    • Reviews packaging instructions and ensures correct containers and packaging materials are available.
    • Inspects the parts that are manufactured, at defined intervals and records results on the inspection check sheet.
    • Place In-Process Inspection Routing Tag on each container when the prescribed container quantity is reached.
    • Record completed container quantity and container number on the Production Control Log Card with the batch number of the raw material.
    • Record the quantity run, also any maintenance comments in the Die Maintenance Form.
    • When the run is complete return all documentation to the quality department.
    • Responsible for job efficiency (quick set up and run).
    • Must work in compliance with the provision of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&SA) and the regulations, & use/wear the proper equipment, protective devices or clothing (i.e. PPE).

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Estimator assists in the tooling and production quote processes. This position reviews customer data to determine manufacture-ability of customer orders. Prepares and reviews preliminary strip layouts and contacts customers to discuss technical issues. Provides technical support to the Sales and Marketing Manager and Sales Coordinator. Ensures that high quality standards and efficiency are continuously maintained. Makes suggestions and recommendations to improve efficiency and wherever possible prevent problems before they arise.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Prior to quoting reviews customer CAD data and/or GD&T to determine manufacture-ability of customer product.
    • If Company is able to manufacture per the customer’s requirements, the estimator assists in the tooling and production quoting processes.
    • Obtain supplier quotes as required; including paint, coating, heat-treat, fasteners, etc.
    • In conjunction with sales personnel, CAD Administrator, Estimating Coordinator and other Company personnel as needed, the estimator organizes the quote process.
    • Generate blank layout and develop tooling process to meet customer supplied requirements.
    • Provides technical support services to the Sales and Marketing Manager and Sales Coordinator.
    • Provide packaging and freight estimates as required.
    • The estimator is responsible for communicating the design and preliminary strip layout to the customer for approval.
    • Prepare tooling cost breakdowns as required.
    • Once job is awarded, the estimator is responsible for ensuring engineering is provided with all necessary information required for design.
    • Ensure all back up supplier quotes and pertinent information conveyed to launch team.
    • Involved with engineering concerning the preliminary analysis of the die design and build process.
    • Communicates any technical issues regarding process feasibility and quoting process to Sales.
    • Review quotes in detail to ensure accuracy and completion.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

    • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the Tool & Die environment is necessary.
    • Working knowledge of Vero Visi software is an asset.
    • Intermediate or advance level of Excel required (Quote Model built in Excel).
    • Understanding progressive and mechanical transfer tooling is required.
    • General manufacturing process knowledge an asset (spot welding/mig welding, proj welding)
    • Working knowledge of GD&T to assess feasibility.
    • EDUCATION

    The Software Programmer/Business Analyst is responsible for gathering, documenting and analysing business needs in order to develop software and business information solutions to resolve business challenges, as well as ongoing support and development of Dynamics365 CRM.


    SPECIFIC DUTIES
    Interface with the business and operations stakeholders in order to understand their problems and needs. 
    Gather, document, and analyze business needs and requirements to resolve business challenges with the development of software applications, reports, dashboards, etc.
    Design and develop applications to address business challenges.  Select the appropriate technology for the development of applications.  Integrate applications with the ERP system and Dynamics365 CRM as required.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

    The Continuous Improvement Coordinator is responsible for all process improvement projects.  This position will work with all departments to identify, develop action plans and track the implementation of projects that will improve the profitability and efficiency in the plant.

     

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Identify and drive continuous improvement plans to improve overall equipment performance (quality, output and reliability).
    • Conduct time studies to ensure work cells are hitting established targets, identify inefficiencies and provide recommendations for improvement.
    • Support the integration of new and existing equipment into automated cells. Involved in any buy-offs.
    • Coordinate engineering changes for the facility
    • Responsible for developing timelines and action plans for cost reduction activities.
    • Responsible for verifying and tracking cost improvement ideas and reporting monthly goals and objectives to the plant management team.
    • Work with Corporate Analyst on cost analysis for margin improvements.
    • Attend weekly APQP meetings.
    • Analyse process flow throughout the facility to ensure efficient movement of raw material into WIP and finished product.

    • 2+ years’ experience in an automation/production environment

    POSITION SUMMARY

    CNC Operators are responsible for setting up, operating or tend metal-cutting machines designed for repetitive machining work.  The incumbent must be able to understand and interpret G and M codes.  Measure and verify dimensions of machined parts using precision measuring instruments. Perform pre-machine and final machine checklist.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Perform pre-machine and final machine checklist.
    • Set up tooling per supplied drawings.
    • Understand and utilize the FCS System (clamping system) in daily work.
    • Ability to understand and interpret G and M codes using Fanuc controls.
    • Ability to use precise measuring equipment.
    • Accurately Record machine hours usage per job.
    • Maintain proper tooling inventory by not leaving tools unattended (i.e. Fly Cutters) and following proper inventory checklists beginning and ending of shifts.
    • Replace broken tooling as required and notify CNC Floor Supervisor immediately.
    • Ability to understand CNC programs.
    • Able to work evenings (3:30 pm to 2:00 am; M-Thurs; When busy Fri 3:30 pm to 8 pm); overtime paid after 40 hrs.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the assigned hand transfer press and recording periodic checks, for the quality of the product being produced.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES – BASIC

    These Basic Duties will be performed by all press operators after their 3 month probation period. Advanced Duties may be trained after this time at the discretion of the Supervisor.

    • Ensures raw material being used is the correct material and gathers all Receiving Inspection Tags & attaches these to the Production Control Log card.
    • Ensure that all die protection equipment is operating correctly.
    • Ensure that the scrap from the die is conveyed into the scrap containers, and that all set-up scrap has been removed from the area. Ensure that garbage and scrap metal are being properly segregated.
    • Review packaging instructions and ensure that correct containers and packaging materials are available.
    • Perform daily Preventive Maintenance Checks
    • Inspect the parts that are manufactured, at defined intervals and record results on the Inspection Check Sheet. Understanding of the proper use of a micrometer to measure steel thickness. Understanding of visual checks for parts, and correct use of the checking fixture. Understanding of calibration stickers and “dropped gauges”
    • Ensure that part number stamps and date stamps are being used correctly. Call for the Lead Hand or Set-Up when either of these are incorrect.
    • Place IN PROCESS MATERIAL ROUTING TAG on each container when the prescribed container quantity is reached.
    • Record completed container quantity and container number on the Production Control Log Card with the batch number of the raw material.
    • Record the quantity run, scrap and reason codes; also any maintenance comments in the Die Maintenance Form.
    • When run is complete return all documentation to the quality department.
    • Any other task given by the Production Supervisor.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES – ADVANCED

    At the discretion of the Supervisor, the employee may obtain additional training in the following areas:

    • Lockout/Tagout/Press Blocking
    • Crane Training for Coils Set Up
    • Die Setup/Die Protection Set-up
    • Changing Date Stamps

Compensation includes: hourly rate $15.00/hr + .75 cents/hr shift premium on nights, free health care benefits, pension available after 1 year. Annual increase each Fall.

    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Weld Technician accumulates and records test data for materials, devices and products. Performs general department maintenance. The technician is also responsible for complying with ISO & other quality systems procedures, as required.
    **The successful candidate will be required to work the Night shift: 10 pm to 6 am; Sun-Thurs.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES - TECHNICIAN

    • Responsible for programming, troubleshooting and monitoring robotic/resistance welders; set up of robotic/resistance welders and obtaining first offs.
    • Responsible for maintaining steady production flow through the department during the shift.
    • Upkeep of daily event log and communication between crews.
    • Inspects welded joints and conducts tests to ensure welds meet company standards and customer job specifications.
    • Verifies and maintains sufficient supplies corresponding to the production schedule (i.e.: nuts, bolts, electrodes, etc.) and inform Supervisor on what supplies require replenishing.
    • Recommends adoption of new developments and applications to Supervisor and demonstrates practicality of recommendations.
    • Records inspection and test results; prepares and submits reports to Supervisor. Examine mig welds with Clemex system.
    • Ensure that all welding and testing equipment is operating as per manufacturer’s specifications and at peak performance.
    • Recommend and implement solutions for weld quality issues.
    • Debugging, programming and path editing, repairing and replacing damaged components such as weld guns, electrodes, troubleshoot and develop root cause analysis of machine and welder issues. Interface with maintenance to maximize up time.
    • Review of new fixtures/equipment as required.
    • General housekeeping.
    • Assist Lead Hand in training of operators.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES – WELD SET-UP

    • Ensure that all welding and testing equipment is operating per manufacturer’s specifications and peak performance. This includes performing routing maintenance and clearing faults.
    • Upkeep of daily event log and communication between crews.
    • Understand how to perform all quality inspections and tests (including all weld destructive tests), and recommend solutions for weld quality issues.
    • Review of new fixtures / equipment as required.
    • Maintain department in a safe, clean and orderly condition, perform periodic inventory checks to verify inventory quantities and participate in annual inventory.
    • Complete daily check list per shift if consumable materials (ie tips, welding wire, gas) complete order card inform supervisor (in supervisors absence give to Purchasing).
    • Perform cycle counts on consumable materials if required.
    • Assist in training, production related topics.
    • Report to and assist Supervisor with disciplinary issues as required.
    • Any other task set by the Welding Supervisor/Welding Manager.

    MetriCan is currently seeking two (2) Apprentices who is currently enrolled in the Tool & Die Program (Level 2 or 3); seeking sponsorship for a one-day release.

     POSITION SUMMARY

    The primary objective is to give hands-on experience in the building and repair of dies that are necessary to meet the requirements of the Tool and Die Trade (Trade Code 430A).  Under the direction of the Lead Hand the Apprentice shall perform tasks as assigned with an emphasis on safety, quality and workmanship.  Apprentices shall demonstrate good verbal and communication skills, ensure that proper documentation is maintained and perform housekeeping duties as required.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Wearing, adjusting and maintaining protective equipment (safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, gloves etc) as required.
    • Practicing safe work habits, industrial hygiene, housekeeping, handling designated substances, following company safety procedures.
    • Conducting pre-operational check of equipment and locking out and tagging out equipment.
    • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, performing calculations, reading and interpreting work-in-process documentation, verifying work piece material, identifying and selecting tooling and measuring instruments or checking devices.
    • Using precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy of the diameter, depth, concentricity, position and finish of cut holes.
    • Hand-filing, hand sawing, hand drilling holes, hand tapping threaded holes, hand-reaming, chasing threads and hand grinding.
    • Selecting drill tooling, identifying and preparing cutting tools, locating and positioning work piece in drill, centre drilling a layout punch mark, drilling a hole, chamfering a hole, reaming and machine threading a hole, spot facing a hole, counter boring a hole, counter sinking a hole, performing final inspection.

    In this position you will be responsible for repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, sharpening of progressive transfer dies (for presses of capacity of up to 1000 tons). 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Repair and troubleshooting of progressive dies.
    • Responsible for maintaining production dies in peak efficiency to produce quality product.
    • Assist during tryouts.
    • Advises Tool Room Manager changes required to improve tool performance.

    SKILLS

    • 3-7+ years experience troubleshooting dies in a metal stamping environment.
    • Minimum of 5 years as a post licensed Tool & Die Maker in a heavy metal stamping press environment performing new maintenance of progressive dies.
    • Strong organizational skills, hands-on approach to solving problems, able to work proactively and independently, ability to prioritize activities.
    • Experience with HSLA and Dual Phase materials an asset.
    • Reading and interpreting blue prints.
    • Licensed to use overhead crane (forklift training would be an asset).
    • Computer Skills (basic – intermediate)
    • Must understand basic written and verbal instructions to complete his/her assigned tasks.

    EDUCATION

    • 3+ years minimum Licensed toolmaker (Repair)

    SHIFT:    Straight Afternoon Shifts  [3:00 pm to 1:30 am; Mon to Thurs; Fridays Overtime as needed.  No weekends.]

    REPORTS TO:  Plant Manager
