    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Tool and Die Maker will be responsible for repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, and sharpening of progressive transfer dies for use in 600, 1000, and 1320 ton presses. All presses are steel coil feed for the production of metal automotive parts.

    SHIFT AVAILABLE

    • Afternoon Shift: 3:15 pm to 1:45 am Monday to Thursday

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Repair and troubleshoot dies for heavy stamping production.
    • Provide timely in-press support to troubleshoot issues, limiting downtime tied to die performance.
    • Responsible for ensuring production dies are maintained for peak efficiency.
    • Ensure proper production quality documentation and procedures are followed.

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • 2+ years experience with heavy stamping die repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of progressive dies
    • Working towards or currently holds Tool & Die Maker 430A Certificate an asset
    • Experienced and Apprentice Toolmakers welcome to apply
    • Strong organizational skills, hands-on approach to solving problems, able to work proactively and independently, ability to prioritize activities.
    • Experience with HSLA and Dual Phase materials an asset.
    • Reading and interpreting die design blueprints.
    • Operation of Overhead Crane is an asset

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The CNC Programmer Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines, designed for milling and drilling metal blocks. The incumbent must be able to understand G and M codes, Mastercam and/or NX software, and verify dimensions of machined parts using precision measuring instruments.

    SHIFT AVAILABLE

    • Afternoon Shift: 3:15 pm to 1:45 am Monday to Thursday

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Operate CNC machine to drill and mill metal blocks for tool and die manufacturing process
    • Create and edit programs for CNC machining using NX software
    • Learn and expand NX software knowledge, if not already known
    • Follow drawings and process instructions to ensure machined blocks are within the required specifications
    • Use precise measuring equipment to confirm block measurements
    • Follow inventory protocols to maintain accurate tool inventories
    • Work with engineers and toolmakers with any issues or changes in the machining process

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 3+ years CNC Setup and Operating experience
    • Minimum of 3+ years CNC Programming experience
    • Understand and utilize the FCS System (clamping system)
    • Ability to understand and utilize Mastercam and/or NX software is a requirement
    • Ability and desire to learn NX software
    • Ability to understand and interpret G and M codes using Fanuc controls is a requirement
    • Ability to use precise measuring equipment: Vernier, Micrometer, Indicator, etc.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Welding Material Handler/Forklift Driver is to ensure that the staging area is appropriately stocked with components and raw materials. They are responsible for the movement of WIP inventory into and out of the staging area and scanning all material to the designated storage rows. They must ensure that all components and raw materials are present in appropriate quantities at each work cell.

    SHIFT(S) AVAILABLE

    Days: 6am - 2pm (Monday to Friday)
    Afternoons: 2pm - 10pm (Monday to Friday)
    Nights: 10pm - 6am (Sunday to Thursday)

    SPECIFIC DUTIES
    • Ensure that the staging area is appropriately stocked with bins of WIP inventory according to current production requirements.
    • Move bins from WIP inventory rows and scan to the staging area.
    • Ensure all totes are identified with the corresponding part number label.
    • Scan WIP inventory into designated locations.
    • Ensure all traceability pertaining to material being consumed is logged into Production Manager.
    • Move completed bins to the inspection areas and an empty bin to press area.
    • When required, during a changeover, the welding Forklift Operator/Material Handler will clear out raw materials from the shelves in the cell and replace them with the proper materials for the next job.
    • Must be able to operate the Forklift and Tugger in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Other tasks as assigned by Supervisors.

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Must be able to operate a Forklift and/or Tugger.
    • Previous experience working in welding would be an asset.
    • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment.
    • Attention to detail is a must in this position.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Material Handler/Forklift Driver is responsible for raw material and finished product movement throughout the plant and will support the production flow of steel components coming off the presses in the stamping department. This position is also responsible for loading and unloading bins from trailers and prepping steel coils at the presses.

    SHIFT(S) AVAILABLE

    Weekend Shift (12.5hr shifts):
    Weekends: 6:00am – 6:30pm (Friday to Sunday)

    Two-Week Rotation Shift (10 hour shifts):
    Days: 5:30am - 4pm (Monday to Thursday)
    Afternoons: 4:30pm - 3am (Monday to Thursday)

    SPECIFIC DUTIES
    • Ensure that press operators have sufficient raw material.
    • Ensure that finished WIP is moved out of the press area in a timely manner.
    • Ensure that production fall-off scrap is dumped in the proper containers – separating the steel.
    • Scan WIP inventory into designated locations.
    • Scan WIP for outside service into designated locations.
    • Move completed bins to the inspection areas and an empty bin to press area.
    • Ensure raw material required for the presses is moved to the press prior to die set up, including coils.
    • Scan finished product from production floor onto trailers for delivery to the Warehouse.
    • Other tasks as assigned by Supervisors.

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
    • Must have the ability to operate the lift truck.
    • Experience operating overhead crane would be an asset.
    • Experience with CMS scanning.
    • Attention to detail is a must in this position.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Metrican is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Capacity Planner join our team. The Capacity Planner’s main duties are to schedule, monitor and review the production and manufacturing of dies including sub-contracted dies.  Identify capacity issues and provide recommendations to management.  Oversee reports pertaining to capacity, work order performance and manufacturing and production.

    To be a successful candidate should have excellent organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills, as well as familiarity with the Automotive Metal Stamping industry. You should also possess strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

     

     SHIFT(S) AVAILABLE

    Monday to Thursday; 8 am to 5 pm; Fridays 8 am to 4:30 pm.

     

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    Tool Manufacturing Capacity Planning

    • Develop and maintain the manufacturing capacity information in the ERP system.
    • Analyze current orders and upcoming orders, as well as delays and interruptions, to prioritize, plan, and schedule the Tool Manufacturing operations.
    • Review the Tool manufacturing plan with the Plant Manager for approval.
    • Assist the CNC Supervisor and Tooling Lead Hands with the Capacity Plan for their departments.
    • Submit Tool Manufacturing milestones to Corporate Project Management for incorporation into the Customer Timeline.
    • Maintain and update as required the Tool Build timelines (schedules) for each Tool WO.
    • Monitor status of the Tool Manufacturing schedule and report any issues or potential risks to the timely completion of Tooling WOs to the Plant Manager.
    • Provide capacity and estimated completion information to support the Sales and Estimating processes.
    • Maintain the Tool WO structure templates in the ERP system.
    • Communicate tool schedule information to other departments, including Engineering and Corporate Project Management.
    • Provide Tool Manufacturing scheduling information and updates to the Plant Manager on an as required basis.
    • Participate in Operations Status meetings.
    • Implement Engineering changes to WOs as provided through the Engineering Change Notice process and update project timelines.
    • Participate in the weekly Timeline meetings with Tool Manufacturing and Engineering.
    • Help resolve shop issues and identify potential capacity issues to reduce risk and exposure.

     

    Production Materials Management

    • Be conversant will all aspects of the Material Planning functionality in the ERP (Infor Visual).
    • Optimize the timing of material purchases to ensure material availability for WO’s that start within a specified timeframe while minimizing inventory levels.
    • Prepare Purchase Orders for production materials, including materials for Tool trials.

     

    • Production Scheduling (Stamping)
    • Analyze back orders, current orders, upcoming orders, as well as delays and interruptions, to prioritize, plan, and schedule the production operations in conjunction with the Plant Manager and Production Supervisor.
    • Review production plan with Production Supervisor and Plant Manager for approval.
    • Monitor the execution of production plan in order to identify any potential issues in a timely fashion and communicate them to the Plant Manager.
    • Maintain Work Order (WO) data integrity by adjusting dates in the ERP system based on the current status of production orders and material availability.
    • Open, release and close production work orders ensuring the accuracy of all production WO’s.
    • Co-ordinate and negotiate schedule recovery dates with the Production Supervisor to maintain on time completion of the production WOs.
    • Provide production scheduling information and updates to the Plant Manager on an as required basis.
    • Monitor status of the production schedule and report any issues or potential risks to the timely completion of production WOs to the Plant Manager.
    • Provide ongoing metrics for Key Performance Indicators related to Production Planning and Scheduling to management as required.
    • Work with management in coordinating and planning production activities to improve runtime.
    • Coordinate with Production Team in planning and implementing engineering changes in production.

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Highly energized, result orientated problem solver
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in a team environment and at all levels of the organization
    • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Demonstrable initiative with Continuous Improvement, i.e. providing suggestions leading to cost reduction and/or containment, increased efficiency, increased communication, etc.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Post-Secondary Education or 5 years of progressive experience in Capacity Planning and Production Scheduling preferably in both job shop and production environments
    • Previous experience working with MRP/ERP software (preferably Infor Visual)

    • Troubleshooting of high and low voltage systems (press feed lines, lathes, milling machines, CNC machines, etc.)
    • Troubleshoot various pneumatic and hydraulic circuit systems (ex. feed lines at presses, straighteners, de-coilers)

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Ontario Provincial license as an Industrial Electrician (309A or 442A) is required
    • Automotive metal stamping manufacturing experience is required
    • 3-5 years experience in a similar role required

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Ontario Provincial license as an Industrial Millwright (433A) is required
    • Automotive manufacturing experience is required
    • 6-8 years experience in a similar role required

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Set-up and removal of manual, progressive, and linear transfer dies for metal stamping production

    • Work with quality personnel to ensure quality is maintained during production and setup
    • Quickly resolve metal stamping production issues, preserving production quotas and timelines
    • Press Set-up Operator must maintain a safe work environment by following procedures

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Metal stamping production set-up experience for 200 ton to 1500 ton presses
    • Experience with overhead crane & forklift is essential
    • Familiarity with Quality Documentation / ISO9001 / TS16949
    • Understand basic written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

    • Coordinate the intake of Requests for Quotations (RFQ)

    • Generate blank layout and develop tooling process to meet customer supplied requirements
    • Provide packaging and freight estimates
    • Prepare tooling cost breakdowns
    • Ensure all back up supplier quotes and pertinent information is conveyed to launch team
    • Prepare reports as requested by the Quoting Supervisor

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Certification in Engineering design and drafting technology or in a related field through provincial associations of engineering/applied science technologists and technicians is preferred
    • Experience in 3D designing an asset
    • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Experience in Excel

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Press Operator Assistant is responsible for assisting in the safe operation of metal stamping production. Responsibilities include safely stacking and inspecting automotive metal parts as they are produced and maintaining a clean working environment. Full safety, quality, and production training will be provided.

    SHIFT(S) AVAILABLE

    Weekend Shift:

    • Weekend Shift: 6:00am to 6:30pm (Friday to Sunday)

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Stack steel automotive parts in bins as they are produced
    • Inspect parts for deficiencies, burrs, rips and tears
    • Assist the Press Operator as required, during downtime and die change overs
    • Move bins with a handheld tow motor as they fill up and need replacing
    • Other duties as assigned by production supervisor

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
