    POSITION SUMMARYThe Material Handler/Forklift Driver is responsible for raw material and finished product movement throughout the plant on the afternoon shift and will support the production flow of steel components coming off the presses. This position is also responsible for loading and unloading bins from trailers and prepping steel coils at the presses. (Shift: Afternoons Mon to Thurs; 3:15 pm to 1:45 am; Fridays required when busy.  Overtime paid after 40 hrs/week).  



    SPECIFIC DUTIES
    Operate the Forklift truck (Propane).
    Use the overhead cranes (occasionally).
    Ensure raw material required for the presses is moved to the press prior to die set up, (steel coils).
    Ensure that the press operators have sufficient raw material and that finished WIP is moved out of the press area in a timely manner.
    Move production tools from the tooling storage area to the presses.
    Ensure that production fall-off scrap is dumped in the proper containers – separating the steel.
    Move completed bins to the inspection areas and empty bins to the press area.
    Assist Production with cleaning.
    Assist Shipping/Receiving by loading/unloading trucks and correct labelling.
    Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&SA)
    Any other task set by the Shift Supervisor.




    EDUCATION
    Secondary School Diploma
    Valid Forklift Operating Certificate with 3+ years’ experience in Mfg or warehouse environment.
    Valid Crane Certificate an asset

    POSITION SUMMARY
    We are seeking hard working, dedicated, punctual individuals who are looking for a full-time permanent opportunity, with potential for growth. The General Labourer is responsible for assisting in the safe operation of metal stamping production. Responsibilities include safely stacking and inspecting automotive metal parts as they are produced, and maintaining a clean working environment. Full safety, quality, and production training will be provided.

    We are currently seeking to fill TWO General Labourer positions (One for each shift, NO SHIFT ROTATION):

    • Day Shift: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday

    or

    • Afternoon Shift 3:15 pm to 1:45 am Monday to Thursday

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Removing steel parts from back of press and stacking them neatly in bins. (Repetitive movements are required).
    • At all times will follow the direction/instruction of their immediate supervisor which may mean assisting Press Operators when requested.
    • Assist the shipping & receiving departments when requested (i.e. paperwork, delivery within the plant, photocopying).
    • Moving of steel automotive parts with a handheld tow motor.
    • Responsible for keeping a safe, clean work area which may include but not limited to. mop/sweep floors, operate floor cleaning machine (Zamboni), and emptying of garbage with awareness of recycling.
    • Perform light maintenance duties such as painting of: dies, presses, floors, walls, and stairs.
    • Assist with the annual inventory count.
    • Inspecting parts for deficiencies, burrs, rips and tears in or on steel automotive parts before leaving the plant. (High level of concentration, focus and good eyesight required).

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

    • Quality Policy / Quality Documentation / ISO9001 / TS16949
    • Lock Out/Tag Out, ability to follow operating work instructions
    • WHMIS GHS 2015, Health & Safety Act/ Policy
    • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent training
    • Previous metal stamping or manufacturing experience an asset
    • Understand basic written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks
    • Valid Lift Truck operating Certificate and/or Training is an asset but not required
    • Valid Operation of Overhead Crane Certificate and/or Training is an asset but not required

    PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS

    • Considerable physical effort required.
    • Continuous repetitive movements during shift
    • Lifting and bending required (limited to 35 lbs max)

    POSITION: Industrial Electrician/PLC Programmer


    We are currently recruiting a licensed Industrial Electrician (309A or 442A) to join the Metrican team at our Burlington location. This position will support our night shift, and hours of work are Sunday – Thursday; 10:00pm – 6:00am.


    At Metrican we are looking for positive, team-oriented people who can also work independently. It is imperative that all employees focus on efficiency, quality, continuous improvement, and most importantly safety. This position requires strong attention to detail and a quick response time.


    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
    Ontario Provincial license is required as an Industrial Electrician (309A or 442A) is required.
    Automotive manufacturing experience is required.
    6-8 years’ experience in a similar role required (experience with stamping and robotic welding is required).
    Self-motivated, reliable and dependable.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Preventative maintenance, breakdown support and project-based work.
    Examine and repair all equipment when required for continuous plant operation.
    Responsible ensuring the preventative and predictive maintenance program for all equipment is executed.
    Troubleshooting of high and low voltage systems (press feed lines, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and weld equipment, etc.)
    Fluent in PLC Programming and troubleshooting (Allen Bradley, MicroLogix, Rockwell) – must be able to reset faults to ensure continued operations.
    Maintain and modify existing automation-controlled PLC systems where required.
    Configure software using company's software design practices. This includes but it is not limited to PLC and PC controllers, drives, robots, networking, HMI, sensors, vision, logging, printing, scanning, interfaces etc.
    Integration of specialized hardware and software into manufacturing systems to enhance automation and control with an emphasis on efficiency.
    Inspect facility equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and potential malfunctions.
    Must be able to communicate with team members and management.
    Must work in Compliance with Company Health & Safety Standards, Polices & procedures and to comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations.
    Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment or clothing as required by the Employer and or the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

    POSITION: CLEANER 


    We are currently recruiting a night shift cleaner to join the Metrican team at our Burlington location. Hours of work for this position are Sunday – Thursday, 10:00pm – 6:00am.


    Reporting to the Production Manager, cleaners are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitization of the manufacturing facility (office, plant and grounds) by performing various cleaning duties. Tasks may vary based on seasonal changes or business requirements. The cleaner will also support the warehouse facility located approximately 1 km from the main plant.  


    At Metrican we are looking for positive, team-oriented people who can also work independently. It is imperative that all employees focus on efficiency, quality, continuous improvement, and most importantly safety. This position requires strong attention to detail and a quick response time.


    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
    Previous experience in the cleaning/janitorial industry required. Experience with cleaning/janitorial in an industrial/manufacturing facility considered an asset.
    Experience with automatic floor scrubbers and other janitorial equipment is an asset.
    Own transportation is required as this position supports two facilities.
    Self-motivated, reliable and dependable.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of all facility areas including offices, plant and grounds of the facility).
    Ensure regular disinfection/cleaning of all frequently touched surfaces (such as tables, railings, door knobs, desks, etc.).
    Ensure washroom facilities are regularly cleaned, replenished and maintained.
    Ensure safe use of forklift and Zambonis at all times while cleaning, removing waste, etc.
    Ensure external maintenance of the yard. Although landscape & snow removal services are used, the cleaner must ensure walkways are salted, debris is removed and cigarette disposal receptacles are emptied.
    Manage all cleaning supplies and maintain adequate inventory at all times.
    Must understand written job instructions and conduct basic problem-solving.
    Must be able to communicate with team members and management.
    Must work in Compliance with Company Health & Safety Standards, Polices & procedures and to comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations.
    Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment or clothing as required by the Employer and or the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    We are seeking hard working, dedicated, punctual individuals who are looking for a full time permanent opportunity with potential for growth. The Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the metal stamping press. Operators also perform and record periodic production quality checks. Full safety, quality and production training will be provided. 

    We are currently seeking to fill two operator positions (NO SHIFT ROTATION):

    Day Shift: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Mon to Friday

    OR

    Afternoon Shift 3:00 pm to 1:30 am Mon to Thurs

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • The Press Operator ensures that the die is set-up in a manner that allows the part to be ejected from the die properly and will be working on 250 ton to 1320 ton machine (both manual & progressive machinery).
    • Ensures raw material being used is the correct material and gathers all receiving inspection tags and attaches these to the production control log card.
    • Ensures that the scrap from the die is conveyed into the scrap containers
    • Reviews packaging instructions and ensures correct containers and packaging materials are available.
    • Inspects the parts that are manufactured, at defined intervals and records results on the inspection check sheet.
    • Place In-Process Inspection Routing Tag on each container when the prescribed container quantity is reached.
    • Record completed container quantity and container number on the Production Control Log Card with the batch number of the raw material.
    • Record the quantity run, also any maintenance comments in the Die Maintenance Form.
    • When the run is complete return all documentation to the quality department.
    • Responsible for job efficiency (quick set up and run).
    • Must work in compliance with the provision of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&SA) and the regulations, & use/wear the proper equipment, protective devices or clothing (i.e. PPE).

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

    • Quality Policy / Quality Documentation / ISO9001 / TS16949
    • Lock Out/Tag Out, ability to follow operating work instructions
    • WHMIS GHS 2015, Health & Safety Act / Policy
    • Previous Press experience required

    • Intense sensory/visual concentration is required performing production set ups and die tryouts, watching parts coming off the press
    • Position is repetitive
    • Listening concentration required to ensure press is operating correctly – position requires incumbent to listen to the press operation because if the machine is not running correctly most operators will recognize that by the sound of the machine operating
    • Subject to constant noise when presses are running
    • Clerical work completing quality part inspection list

    COMPENSATION:

    • $18.00 to $23.00 per hour
